Can AI or software replace painting by hand?
Short answer: Software can generate images and analyze color, but it cannot give you the trained eye, the hand skill or the physical object a painting is. Used well, it is a study aid: it can check values or suggest mixes, while the painting itself stays handmade.
What software does well
Checking values in a reference, extracting a palette, predicting how pigments mix, and organizing study material. These save guesswork and speed up learning.
What it cannot do
It cannot stand at the easel and make a thousand small judgments with a loaded brush. It cannot build your eye for you. And a generated image is not a painting: surface, scale and the evidence of the hand are the point of the object.
