For art-material partners

Classical painting knowledge, translated into modern materials education.

Clinton Smith collaborates with professional art-material makers to demonstrate how brushes, grounds, panels, pigments, and studio tools perform across the complete indirect oil-painting process.

The position

Not a general review. A professional painting system.

More than twenty years in oils have produced a materials-intensive studio practice built around drawing, grisaille, controlled color, transparent glazes, deliberate edges, and archival construction. That system can be translated into useful, memorable education for painters and into credible product stories for the companies that equip them.

Ready-made educational properties

Four programs, each built around a real studio problem.

I

From Grisaille to Glaze

A complete indirect portrait sequence showing how brush behavior changes from drawing and monochrome construction through modeling, glazing, edge resolution, and final accents.

II

The Architecture of a Portrait

A materials-led study of drawing, value structure, flesh temperature, and controlled edges, translated into clear demonstrations for serious painters.

III

Ground to Varnish

An archival painting series connecting supports, grounds, brushes, pigments, mediums, and varnish to the decisions that determine the life of a finished work.

IV

Painting for Place

A case-study format drawn from institutional and healing-environment work, focused on architecture, emotional atmosphere, stakeholder needs, and long-term installation.

What a partnership can produce

A complete body of useful brand assets.

Each collaboration begins with a defined painting problem and a written scope. The result is educational content with a clear reason for the product to be present, not an endorsement pasted onto unrelated studio footage.

  • 01Long-form instructional demonstrations
  • 02Vertical process films and social cuts
  • 03Professional still-image libraries
  • 04Written materials and brush-performance guides
  • 05Live studio demonstrations and conversations
  • 06Structured product testing and professional feedback

The studio standard

The work is painted by hand. The collaboration is built with the same discipline.

Written scope, defined milestones, professional photography, review points, and scheduled delivery. The studio brings the operational structure of commissioned work to every educational and product partnership.

Selected foundation

  • Classical portrait and figurative practice
  • Institutional and healing-environment experience
  • Archival grounds, supports, and layered oil technique
  • Teaching studio and painter-built software instruments
